HOW TO GET RID OF MONDAY BLUES

How to get rid of Monday blues | The Alma Chronicle

Being self employed for the most part, makes it easy to lazy in on Monday mornings and snooze my alarm till infinity. But that’s not the case. I view Mondays as an opportunity to set new goals and work harder towards my bigger picture.

But of course, not every Monday morning comes with a truckload of motivation so here are 5 things I’ve been doing lately to get rid of Monday blues:

  1. Wake up and Smile: I know this sounds a little silly but you’ll be surprised how much positive energy you can harness just by smiling when you wake up. It’s my way of telling myself I’m going to have a great day/week and conditioning my mind to believe just that.
  2. Hydrate: A glass of lemon water before taking a bath and a cup of healthy smoothie (check here for amazing smoothie recipes) afterwards is perfect to fuel your system before the long day. I usually save a cup of coffee for later in the day.
  3. Listen to music: Be it in the shower, on the way to work or at your desk, listening to the right type of music has proven to be an excellent mood lifter.
  4. Prioritize tasks: On a Monday morning, the last thing you want to be is overwhelmed. Prioritize the important tasks that need to be done through the day & work through them one thing at a time. I love setting achievable goals and rewarding myself afterwards.
  5. Be positive: It’s easy to get lost in the pursuit of everything we’re not that we take for granted every other thing we’ve been blessed with. Cultivate the habit of starting the week with an attitude of gratitude & take time to appreciate the things you love about your life & work. Trust me, you’ll start seeing the world from a whole different perspective.

Is there anything you do to make Monday mornings bearable? Let me know in the comment section below! There’s also a contest in my previous post I think you might be interested in!

Yes mondays can be such a drag. I guess music is mostly my way of getting through the day. And I always make sure to wear bright colours (happy colours), it uplifts my mood haha.

I never think of bright colours because I don’t wear that many, but I should definitely try that! Thank you :)

What a great list. We always start our Monday’s with an epic dance party. We’ve been waking and dancing to The Weekends new album, Star Boy. Check it out!

It works miracles for me! One of my bad habits was waking up & immediately stressing over a day that hasn’t started which later affects my whole day but since I started conditioning my mind? Life has given me smoother mornings

It helps me to make breakfast for my husband. I love to cook and I love watching other people enjoy my food. So when I make a big pan of biscuits and gravy or a serve him up a plate of waffles, it just puts me in a better mood for the rest of the day. :)

That is so sweet! As much as I’m a morning person, making breakfast is always such a chore for me :(

It can definitely feel that way sometimes since I often feel so blah in the mornings, but I love to cook and once I get going, it’s not so bad–and totally worth it when we can share breakfast in bed or share a warm meal at the table before heading to work.

Mondays can definitely be a ‘thing.’ I will try the music on my commute to my awful job, LOL. After a nice shower and lemon water, it may help! Also, your look is on point!

Great post! I need to really start with the wake up and smile part.

One thing that really worked for me this past week is having a relaxing, yet productive Sunday (did yoga, cleaned house, prepped my clothes for the week). It’s almost like I was getting myself back on track before the new week even started.
