YES TO WIDE LEGGED TRO– USERS?
Real talk, I just realised that for every top in my closet, I have a matching bottom. No, I didn’t do this intentionally but I guess that’s one of the benefits of curating a functional wardrobe to your personal style. Could also be the reason I’m always spotted in monotone outfits.
In the process of discovering my personal style, I stumbled upon an article that stated reasons why wide legged trousers should be a short girl’s enemy. FYI, I’m 5’4. For a moment, I agreed with all the disadvantages I had stumbled upon online as the pieces I had in my closet at that time, did little to no justice for my body type. Not only did I drown in the length of the trousers, I also had a hard time finding the perfect pair to hide my love handles.
However, with time, I have gotten better at the art of curating wide legged trousers and slowly, this once forbidden item has taken precedence over straight trousers in my closet.
I love that they can be worn in all seasons, styled in a different ways and most importantly, they are very flattering, if done right!
There are two major types of wide legged trousers: high & low waisted. From experience, I find that the high waisted option is definitely more acceptable by different body shapes. So I suggest if you’re trying to own your first pair of wide legged bottoms, look into this option first.
For this post, I have paired this Massimo Dutti Flowing Trousers with a Theory Silk Tee and patterned Christian Louboutin pumps. I’ve kept my jewellery to a minimum, wearing the Swarovski bangle, a stack of bracelets and a pair of drop earrings.
