AFFORDABLE & POTENT OLAY SERUMS – PRODUCT REVIEW

The last time I wrote about some skincare gems was last year in this post here. It’s been well over a year, so it’s normal that I’ve introduced some new favourites in my daily routines. In today’s post, I want to talk about two new affordable serums I’ve introduced into my regimen over the last two months— Olay’s Tone Perfection Serum & Deep Hydration Serum, both formulated with Vitamin B3 and infused with either Vitamin C or Hyaluronic Acid respectively.

A quick skin type background to provide context – I have normal / combination skin and for the most part, I do not struggle with acne, except it’s hormonal. I look for products that help with overall hydration and tend to change what I’m using depending on my need for that moment in time. For the Olay products, the key ingredient in both serums is B3, which is also known as Niacinamide. This is an ingredient that my skin has come to love since I introduced it to my routine.

This post is sponsored by Olay, but all thoughts and views are mine.

Affordable Olay Serums | The Alma Chronicle

Let’s start with what serums are and why you need them before we dive into the products. Serums are KEY to a take your routine from basic to elevated! Whether you’re looking to treat dryness, dark spots or fine lines, there is a serum out there that will address these issues for you. Serums are lighter than moisturizers but are packed with high concentrations of active ingredients that help target each of these concerns, either individually or collectively.

Personally, my skin concerns are dryness, texture and hyperpigmentation. It took me a while to figure out my perfect cocktail mix of ingredients that I needed to tackle not one, but all of these concerns and now that I have, it’s been glowing, healthy skin from there on!

I picked up the Olay serums from my local Shoppers Drug Mart as an alternative to my higher-end serums. I love the fact that the quality and potency of these serums are not compromised by the fact that it is an accessible and affordable drugstore product.

For my morning routine, I use the Olay Tone Perfection Serum with B3 + Vitamin C. If you don’t have a Vitamin C serum in your routine, I highly suggest picking one up!

According to the product description, the Olay Tone Perfection Serum will help you achieve noticeably brighter skin on day 1 and more even skin tone in just 2 weeks. It is specially formulated for dull or uneven skin tone, and it works on all skin types.

With my experience and knowledge about serums, I can definitely see how a combination of the ingredients in this product help you achieve clearer and more refreshed skin over a period of time. I have been using it for 2 months and I can attest to the difference it has made so far.

Vitamin C has amazing skin brightening powers that help to visibly brighten dull skin. It’s also a naturally occurring antioxidant that is known to protect the skin against damage from UV rays. Vitamin B3 improves the skin’s resilience, reduces the appearance of dark spots while supporting long-lasting hydration.

The serum has a milky, silky-like consistency that goes on clean and absorbs well, instantly leaving my skin feeling hydrated without leaving it oily or tacky.

After cleansing, I use the dropper to apply several drops of serum, then follow with a moisturizer to seal in the treatment. I use this in my morning routine as a pick me up to prep my skin for the day & I love how well it layers with other products.

For my night routine, I reach for the Olay Deep Hydration Serum with B3 + Hyaluronic Acid.

I’ve always been a fan of Hyaluronic Acid and I can’t get enough of this ingredient in my regimen. This product is formulated for dry and normal skin.

Hyaluronic Acid is a moisture magnet ingredient known to regulate water within your skin’s surface cells and to keep it hydrated all day long, or in my case, all night long. I have a few products with Hyaluronic Acid in them, but I keep reaching for this serum because the Niacinamide also helps with targeting pores and texture. It’s a 2 for 1 win!

After cleansing and toning, I use the dropper to apply several drops of serum, then follow with a moisturizer and face oil to seal in the treatment.

The new Olay Serums are also free from fragrance, parabens, phthalates, mineral oil, and synthetic dyes. What’s more, just one drop has the power to renew one million skin cells.

One thing to note is that even though your skin might change over time, it’s important to build a routine that caters to your skin concerns. I suggest starting with affordable serums from the drugstore and building from there if need be. In my experience with these Olay products, potency and effectiveness don’t have to be compromised by price! For more information, you can check them out at Olay.ca!

Till next time,
